Level Up Your Game

Top 4 “Fall Guys” Tips for Beginners

Ready to dive and dodge your way to victory in all sorts of chaotic yet fun ways? “Fall Guys” is your go-to battle royale that you and your friends can enjoy together – so how do you play it?

HOW IT WORKS

You play as a jelly bean-like creature and compete against 59 other players in randomised mini-games ranging from tag and diving through hoops, to racing through specialised obstacles. Elimination occurs when you get knocked right off a platform and plunge into the depths of pink slime.

There are currently over 25 mini-games which fall under four main categories: Race, Survival, Team, and Final. That means players will either fly solo or will have to team up with others in certain mini-games – otherwise, it’s every jelly bean for themselves!

The goal of the game is to get your fellow competitors eliminated each round and become the last player standing. That way, you will win a Crown – a form of in-game currency that allows you to purchase special cosmetics to spice up your jelly bean. Winning team events gets you Crown Shards, which can be combined to form a whole Crown.

HOW TO PLAY

If you’re a newbie to the game, remember to keep these four handy tips in mind:

Master the Three Moves

The game involves a lot of running, but to keep yourself in the race for the Crown, there are three moves you need to master: jumping, diving and grabbing.

Jumping is good for getting ahead of other players and getting you over certain obstacles like vaulting over walls in Gate Crash. However, you need to time your jumping carefully, especially when it comes to mini-games that feature rotating beams like Jump Club.

Diving allows you to cover more ground, dodge enemies who want to grab you, and get you through obstacles such as the hoops in Hoopsie Daisy. But be warned – it takes a while to get back up after a dive, so use your dives sparingly.

Grabbing allows you to grab objects such as tails in Tail Tag and to grab onto ledges; it’s also handy to grab other players and keep them in place. However, you lose mobility and momentum each time you make a grab.

Follow the Leader

Navigating new stages may be tricky at first. The best thing you can do is follow another player(s) who knows which route(s) to take and how to dodge certain obstacles like the spinning logs and rotating fans in the Whirlygig.

Alternatively, take your jelly bean to a fairly safe central area on the stage: there, you can watch where the other players are going so that you can mimic their strategy.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

If you find yourself working in a team during a Team round, you need to co-operate with your team-mates so that you can score points and avoid elimination.

Together, you can defend your base and overwhelm your opponents in games like Egg Scramble (stealing eggs from the other team), Rock ‘N’ Roll (rolling a ball through an obstacle course), and Fall Ball (scoring as many goals from two giant soccer balls on the field at a time).

Eventually by the next round, you and your team-mates will betray each other on the path to victory. ‘Til then, co-operation is key!

Know Your Directions

Most stages such as Jump Club, Hit Parade, Fall Mountain and Fruit Chute include rotating propellers, swinging balls, spinning logs and floating platforms, among other obstacles. Most of these will move in a certain direction, which will require you to make use of careful timing.

Always follow the arrow directions indicated on spinning platforms and conveyor belts in Spinning Plate and Fruit Chute. In Whirlygig, walk in the opposite direction that a rotating bar is going, and try to jump over them as they come towards you to avoid being eliminated.

When it comes to Jump Club – which features two spinning bars, one top and one lower – jump over the bottom bar as it comes towards you, but only do so when both bars are far enough apart.

WIN, WIN, WIN

With these tips in mind, playing “Fall Guys” and gaining the Crown will be a relatively easy experience. Just remember to keep your cool, time your moves right, and be ready for anything, because you never know what mini-game might come your way!
